BRUNCHIN' IN BCN
HOLY GUACAMOLE!
This famous (and slightly American) Barcelona eatery, has touched the hearts, (and stomachs), of thousands of locals and tourists. Brunch & Cake Barcelona prides themselves on serving fresh, never fried food, bringing the best ingredients to your plate every time you dine with them.
Unfortunately for me, I didn’t eat, the Chicken Salad Sandwich Nachos, which appears in the photo above. Instead, I ordered Shrimp and poached eggs, only to find out minutes later, that they were out of shrimp. I opted for a healthier option, and ordered the Mango Salad.
Fresh mangoes, pink, salted Himalayan rice, accompanied with diced sweet potatoes, strawberries, grilled chicken and topped with a charcoal waffle. It sounds AH-mazing right? Wrong. I was severely disappointed. Although it was aesthetically pleasing, it needed some salt, pepper, hot sauce, the whole nine. (It should be noted that rarely, do I ever order incorrectly at a restaurant. It’s almost like I have a 6th sense when it comes to food.)
Now, they're mimosas on the other hand, are something to write home about. With a sugar dipped rim and fresh-squeezed orange juice, this 6 oz. mimosa was the highlight of my meal. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “It’s kind of hard to mess up a mimosa,” but I beg to differ. It’s something special about hand-squeezed oranges from Spain, and a nice, expensive bottle of champagne.
Overall, I am giving Brunch & Cake two thumbs up, simply because the aesthetic was wonderful, and everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Add this to your list of must-try places when visiting Barcelona and stay tuned for the Brunch & Cake update!
